How to Make a Pom Pom Spider
Fully wrap one arm of your pom pom maker with yarn. Remember, the more wraps the more full and dense the pom pom. Cut your working yarn.
Cut one pipe cleaner in half. Bend it in half and position it evenly around the arm of the pom pom maker before securing it into the pom pom base. This will hold your spider eye beads.
Fully wrap the second arm with the same amount of yarn you used for the first arm. We don't need a lopsided spider! Cut your yarn.
Bend four pipe cleaners in half and position them evenly around the arm of the pom pom maker. Then, secure the pom pom arm into its base.
Using your pom pom maker as a guide, cut the yarn around the perimeter of the pom pom maker. Then gently, separate the two sides of the pom pom maker to reveal your pom pom.
Cut a 6" length of yarn and tightly tie it around the center of your pom pom to secure it. This process will also catch the pipe cleaners, securing them in place, too.
Gently separate the two sides of the pom pom and wiggle your pom pom off the maker.
Add a white bead to one side of the shorter pipe cleaner. Bend the end of the pipe cleaner onto itself to secure the bead. Make sure you bend the pipe cleaner so that the bead is positioned to be flush with the pom pom. Repeat on the other side of the pipe cleaner for the second eye.
Trim your pom pom into the shape you want for your spider. We shaped ours into a circle. Trim your spider legs if necessary.
